We will visit some of the iconic locations including The Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Sedona. Each of these locations offers opportunities for great photos, though each presents its own unique challenges. We will guide you to these locations at the times of day appropriate to take advantage of the best light and provide advice on the best techniques to get images you will truly be proud of.

Itinerary
Sunday, May 16
Arrive and overnight at the Phoenix Deer Valley Hotel
Monday, May 17
We will depart from a designated location in Phoenix and drive north to Page. Along the way, we will pass through multiple climate zones with elevations ranging from 1500 to over 7000 feet in elevation. Near Page, we will spend several hours in Lower Antelope Canyon where reflected light from above provides a wide range of colors accenting the twisting canyon walls creating a photographer’s dream. For sunset, we will go to Waterholes Canyon to photograph the unique landscapes of layered sandstone.
Tuesday, May 18
After rising early, we’ll be at Horseshoe Bend before sunrise. This view of the Colorado River from 1200 feet above the rim is a famous landmark of the west. It requires a hike of about ¾ of a mile in sandy soil, but is well worth the trip. Later in the morning, we will go to Upper Antelope Canyon to try to capture shafts of light as they move through the canyon. We will spend the afternoon resting or processing a few photos then go to another sunset location in the area.
Wednesday, May 19
We will rise early again for the first light on the sandstone “Beehives” with the Vermillion Cliffs as a backdrop. After breakfast, we will travel to The Grand Canyon stopping at a couple of lookouts along the way, including the “Watchtower”. Sunset will find us capturing the spectacular changing colors of The Grand Canyon.
Thursday, May 20
We will spend the day at various locations along The Grand Canyon beginning at sunrise. Generally, mid day light is not best for canyon photos but, depending on light and weather conditions, we may be out shooting, scouting, or sharing our work until it is time to shoot again around sunset.
Friday, may 21
Depending on everyone’s preference, we can be out early again or sleep in. Either way, we will depart late morning. Near Sedona, we will be at Red Rock Crossing photographing Cathedral Rock reflected in Oak Creek until we lose the light. Then we’ll depart for Phoenix, arriving around 9-10pm. Overnight at the Phoenix Deer Valley Hotel.
