Fall Foliage Magical Mystery Tour - Landscape Photography at the Peak of Vermont's Fall Splendor
Dates: October 3-8, 2010
Cost: $726.00
Booking Deadline: August 3, 2010
Abstract: New England’s brilliant autumn display attracts professional photographers from all over the world. Peak color, however, is ephemeral, and one doesn’t have much time to scout for the best locations. Therefore, let me take you to some of my favorite spots where I’ve captured cover and gallery images of the mountains, forests, and the resplendent rivers, waterfalls, and reflections at the peak of fall color in Vermont in New Hampshire. We’ll visit sites that rank among the most photogenic locations in all of New England!
Along the way, I will share with you all the professional techniques that have enabled me to produce my published, award-winning gallery images of New England’s splendid autumns. I will accommodate no more than 10 participants in order to assure that I can address everyone’s needs and interests in the field. To be sure, I will be shooting for myself as well so this experience amounts to spending time in the field with a professional nature photographer and learning, first hand, how to take high quality, gallery and editorial photographs.
Northern Vermont is also my home ground and is teeming with subjects from moose to bobcats. We will indeed spend time hunting for moose in the mornings with our cameras and, in fact, we’ve been fortunate to photograph moose during several recent fall foliage tours. Moreover, half of the locations we’ll visit have not been discovered by hordes of other nature photographers and, more than likely, we’ll have these spots all to ourselves.
Following the Vermont leg of the tour, we’ll travel 2.5 hrs. to New Hampshire’s White Mountains and spend two full days working in one of New England’s most outstanding fall foliage locations photographing waterfalls and reflections.

Monday, October 4All day in the field beginning with an early start to catch sunrise at Belvidere Pond and, if we’re lucky, moose in early morning light. (Rob managed to get a nice shot of a moose here during the spring 2008 Green Mountain Workshop.) After sunrise, we’ll head into Stowe to photograph spectacular Moss Glen Falls then return to Lakeview campground for lunch. After lunch, more waterfalls, forest tapestries, covered bridges….until we lose the light in time for dinner.

Tuesday, October 5
We begin the day like the day before, at Belvidere Pond. Then we venture into Belvidere Bog to photograph carnivorous plants including sundews and pitcher plants returning to Lakeview campground in time for lunch. After lunch, we pack up and leave for New Hampshire’s White Mountains arriving in Lincoln in time for dinner. (Meals in New Hampshire are on our own, that is, we typically eat as a group at affordable restaurants, but we pay for our meals individually.) Overnight at the Parker’s Motel.

Wednesday, October 6
The Kancamagus Highway ranks among the most magnificent fall foliage drives in New England. The locations that I have mapped along the Swift River which runs alongside the “Kanc” offer the most dazzling reflection images I have ever photographed! There are also several stunning waterfalls along the way to occupy us when the light isn’t appropriate for reflections. Overnight at the Parker’s Motel.
Thursday & Friday, October 7-8
Another full day in the field working fall color in the White Mountains until dinner. Overnight at the Parker’s Motel and dismiss after lunch the following day (Friday).
