The Tw
ster Tour with Roger Hill
Dates: June 2-9, 2012
Cost: $2,683.00 USD
Booking Deadline: April 1, 2012
Hurricanes, towering tidal waves, erupting volcanoes, tornadoes…these ultimate forces of nature manifest themselves in the most spectacular displays we could imagine witnessing here on Earth, let alone being on hand to capture in images. Though not carelessly but with all the odds carefully considered, devoted nature photographers often risk their well being to take world-class photographs; we brave frost bite and hypothermia and defy gravity on the edges of 1000’ cliffs and face down lions and tigers and bears to get those publishable photos. I ask you: how devoted are you to your craft? Do you have the grit to maintain your composure in the face of nature’s fury long enough to compose a picture and create an artistic image of a tornado?!
Sojourns In Nature is teaming up with the world’s leading storm chaser, Roger Hill, whose ability to intercept tornadoes (and, of course, do it repeatedly) is unrivaled. Roger’s work has been featured on the Weather Channel, Discovery Channel, 60 Minutes, and numerous cable and network programs. He’s been chasing storms for nearly 25 years and has seen and videotaped over 530 tornadoes!
This tour accommodates only a very small group (maximum 6 participants) of individuals who truly feel that they have what it takes to confront a tornado from within less than a mile away. If you believe that your one of the few, then join us. We will provide you with a thorough list of equipment and techniques necessary to make the most of this remarkable and truly once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity.
Itinerary
June 2, 2012
Arrive in Denver, CO
June 3-8, 2012
There is no pre-planned itinerary for this tour. The weather and Roger will determine where we will be on any given day. Note that we will often be on the road very early in the morning to intercept a storm.
Our chase target areas in late June include the scenic high plains of Montana, Wyoming and Colorado, as well as the northern plains states of the Dakotas and Nebraska. At the end of each tour day, we try to position ourselves as close as we can to the next day to prevent extremely early departures. We usually stay in such hotels as Holiday Inn Express, Country Inn and Suites, Hampton Inns and other comparable hotels.
June 9, 2012
Depart Denver for home.
